The metal hardening process is done through heating the metal to a high temperature and then quickly cooling it by oil quenching for components and nitrogen quenching for tools. This causes the conversion of microstructure by rearranging the grains thereby greatly increasing the life of the metal making it stronger and more durable.
Our knowledgeable staff has the technical know-how to accurately achieve the desired hardness for your product with the use of our in-house furnace. Within our facility, the components are heated to lower critical temperature and cooled slowly in the still air to improve the toughness of the material.
The process of stress relieving is accomplished by heating the material uniformly to a predetermined temperature below the lower critical temperature, holding it at that temperature and cooling it slowly to ambient temperatures. Parts may be stress relieved during manufacturing to promote dimensional stability or soften the material for machining.
Age hardening or precipitation hardening is a process by which small particles of precipitate fuse into the metal causing molecular structures to rearrange, thus increasing the overall tensile strength of the metal to improve its wear resistance. This process is important for increasing the integrity and help protect the metal from damages during further manufacturing.
